The Purpose of the Dharma Hall

Why are we building a dharma hall?  Most venurable Dharma Sanga has spent many years meditating in the jungle, so you can imagine would have no use for a shelter!  The Dharma Hall is not made for Guruji; it is for everyone. Next year, Guruji will complete his meditation, after which he will begin to teach his insights to the world.  Most venurable Dharma Sanga has expressed his wishes to teach what he knows to benefit and free his fellow beings from suffering.  So it is important that we have a place to house and seat those who would wish to attend his Dharma talks.

Furthermore,  Most venurable Dharma Sanga has pointed out in his speeches that the desire for physical comfort has often been the root of misguided and harmful worship by the religious people .  This has culminated into acts of mass animal sacrifice which are practiced in the hope of improving the lifestyles of the residents.  By building the Dharma Hall, the Project intends to provide both spiritual and economical benefits for the region and hopefully put an end to harmful worship.

The Terthup Dharma Hall Project will positively impact the economy of Ratanpur, Bara District. Building the Dharma Hall will stimulate the employment and infrastructural development of the village, as well as create a spiritual and social renewal in and around the Project site. Hundreds of jobs for skilled and unskilled workers will be created during the Project tenure. After completion, many people will be employed to maintain the Dharma Hall and provide services to visitors. The Terthup Dharma Hall Project will further create many more long-term jobs for the villagers of Ratanpuri and improve the educational opportunities for their children. It will facilitate visits by pilgrims and tourists. If the economy of the village develops naturally, it is likely to benefit the country as well.

Most importantly, the Dharma Hall, as the seat of Most venurable Dharma Sanga’ s teaching, will help the world to gain a new spiritual perspective and spread the Dharma internationally.

If the right guidance of truth is accepted by everyone, then I can light the candle of peace throughout the world. Throughout the world people will touch each others’ feelings from one to the next. I will guide the beings of this world with mercy and compassion for their benefit so that human beings understand this feeling of love and friendship (Maitri) and are freed from their thirst and attachment born from ignorance.
